School of Continuing Studies master’s courses are developed by expert faculty, guided by the latest research, and directed by industry professionals. Unfortunately, the university’s London campus only offers master’s degree programs. Despite this, York Campus provides both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. In addition, it is approximately four hours by car from London to York Campus.

Purpose:

The personal statement, also known as the statement of purpose, is the opportunity for you to give the Admissions officers more information about yourself and your academic credentials and transcripts. This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate how your personal and academic experiences have influenced your educational and career goals. A personal statement should emphasise the reasons for your interest in the course of study that you have chosen.

Effective Personal Statements Typically Answer and Address:

Who you are as a person.
What you are interested in studying and why.
What prompted you to choose York St. John in particular, and why would you like to study there?
What kind of contribution or impact do you hope to make, and why?
How the program you are applying to will enable you to achieve your goals.
