St Mary University, Twickenham is a public university devoted to the Catholic Church's higher education mission located in Strawberry Hill, Twickenham, South West London. It was first established in 1850 as a Catholic schoolteacher training institution, and in 1949 it was made a constituent college of the University of London Institute of Education. After this affiliation ended in 1976, the University of Surrey validated its degree programmes. It was formerly known as St. Mary's University College, but on January 23, 2014, the Privy Council gave it full university status.
