Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England, has a public research university called Huddersfield University. Although it was founded in a series of 19th-century organisations, it has only been a university since 1992. Its efforts have placed a particular emphasis on teaching quality, and in 2017 it won the first Higher Education Academy Global Teaching Excellence Award and received a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold Award. In 2020, it held the top spot in England for the percentage of employees with teaching credentials.
