Graduates from top universities can get UK visas.

The United Kingdom has announced that recent graduates from the world’s top 50 non-British universities can apply for a UK visa to stay and work in the United Kingdom for three years without having a job offer. Even it does not matter where they are born. It will make it easier to recruit high-skilled employees and talented people. The candidate must pass a criminal background check and be able to read, speak, listen, and write English at an intermediate level. Recent revisions to the UK immigration system aim to make it easier for individuals who hold degrees from high-ranking universities to apply for High Potential Individual (HPI) visas within the last five years.

Several routes exist for immigrants to earn enough points based on their skills, occupations, and education to qualify for the new visas, which reflect Britain’s use of a “points-based immigration system.” The essential thing is that Students can apply for HPI visas only if they have graduated from an institution that appears on two or more of the following three global ranking systems. These are Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings, and The Academy of Ranking World Universities. It means Eligible universities must appear in the top 50 rankings of at least two of the three.

The majority of Universities are in the US. 

The latest list includes 37 eligible universities, 20 of which are in the United States. And they are as below. 

  • California Institute of Technology
  • Columbia University, 
  • Cornell University, 
  • Duke University, 
  • Harvard University, 
  • Johns Hopkins University, 
  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 
  • New York University
  • Northwestern University
  • Princeton University
  • Stanford University
  • Yale University
  • Three campuses of the University of California (at Berkeley, Los Angeles and San Diego)
  • The University of Chicago,
  • The University of Michigan,
  • The University of Pennsylvania,
  • The University of Texas at Austin and
  • The University of Washington.

Other than the US universities, most of the other institutions are located in Europe, Canada or Asia, including Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Swiss), Karolinska Institute (Sweden), Kyoto University (Japan), McGill University (Canada), Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore (Singapore), Peking University and Tsinghua University (China). And Africa, Latin America and South Asia’s universities are not on the list, so they are not qualified. We can 

Visa Valid 

The visa will be valid for two years for graduates with bachelor’s and master’s degrees and three years for PhDs. Participants can apply for a different visa after their HPI visa expires if they meet the requirements.
