In Bangor, Wales, there is a public university called Bangor University. It was one of the founding organisations of the federal University of Wales and acquired its Royal Charter in 1885. Officially known as University College of North Wales (UCNW), it changed its name to the University of Wales, Bangor (UWB) before separating from the University of Wales in 2007 to become Bangor University. CurreBangor, located on the coast of North Wales and 450 kilometres northwest of London, is home to nearly 10,000 students from 85 different nations.
